I gave it to my sister for Christmas with the pictures already downloaded. She loved it.
Not worth list price, but good if you get it cheap

Overall, it's an ok product. Big ornament, but very small picture space. The LCD is just 1x1 inch screen and it washes out the photos. You can't see them very well unless you're standing right in front of the ornament. The software is VERY easy to install and use; I had no problems with that. It installs in less than a minute and after hooking up the ornament via the USB cable, you browse to the folder[s] that contain your pictures and transfer them. It's very user-friendly.
No Software Problem Here - Just Simply Connect Ornament To PC

Reviewer: J. Humphreys,
I was concerned when I had bought this product with all of the negative remarks about the software flashing and then going away. When the ornament is not connected to the computer, this happens (screen shows up for 1 second and goes away). When it IS connected via the USB cable, the software opens up as expected. One quick note: the software should be installed before the ornament is connected to your PC.

I have bought three of these ornaments this year and have not had any problems loading my photos. I can get roughly 55 photos onto this product.

One other point with the software, I actually found it quite simple to use. The software opens up and provides a browse option to import your pictures. Click on the photos you want to import onto the ornament (I created a personal folder with all photos to make my import simple). They'll pull up on the page. You can then sort them into any order. You can also crop the photos.

When ready, it's just one simple click to move them onto the ornament. Then simply close out the software, disconnect the ornament, and then turn it on and cycle through the pictures. Enjoy!

I finally got it to work!

I had the same problems others have had... software coming up and immediately going away, etc., on multiple computers, XP and Vista.

Here's the deal: when the ornament goes to "Connecting" (either by selecting USB or defaulting after a few seconds) the first time it's attached after the software is installed and nothing else happens, SOMETHING IS WRONG. If it works, you get the normal Windows "Installing New Hardware" messages, and then the software works, on either XP or Vista.

How did I fix it? I used a different USB cable (in my case, a known good high quality digital camera mini USB cable). I now have so many of those generic black USB cables, I don't know if I was using the one that came with the ornament or not, but changing to the camera's USB cable made it work easily. (Some of the USB cables may be only for power, or may be defective... you really can't tell)

I found the 'instructions' on installing on Vista unintelligible, but installing the version from the Feldstein website (a later level than the CD I had) worked without jumping through any hoops.

The LCD display is 'just OK' (like all these mini-LCDs), and I wish SOMEWHERE they would document the pixel dimensions so I could prepare the images ahead of time, but it's fun once you get it to work.
Great, once you figure it out

We bought two of these, one for a gift, and the other for ourselves.
We had the same problem of the software flashing on and off the screen within one second, making it impossible to load photos onto the ornament.

One other reviewer said s/he'd had luck using a different USB cable. I did just that (used a different cable). On the third cable I tried, it worked fine. The software loaded, and all was well after that. The software was really easy to use, and it's really easy to crop the images.

Once you get the software working, it really is a nice gift for grandparents or parents.
Not an easy product to use

Reviewer: Sandman,
I had many of the same problems experienced by other users in trying to get the photos transferred to the ornament. It should be a simple as plugging it in and dragging photos over and could be an easy thing for the manufacturer to fix. My biggest problems was getting the software working on my laptop. It would flicker on for just a second and then close. The mini-CD would not read in several computers and I had to download the installation software from the [...] web site. The solution I used for getting the photos transferred was to 1) Turn the ornament on so the blue screen appears, 2) plug the ornament end of the USB into the back of the ornament, 3) plug the computer end of the USB into the computer. 3) when the ornament screen showed a message something like "USB update", I pressed the center button on the ornament. The computer then recognized it as a MARS storage device. (But wasn't available as an external disk in My Computer). 5) Opened the software on my laptop and it stayed loaded. The computer software was not as intuitive as it could be, but wasn't bad. In the end, it was not an easy process, and found it very frustrating to use, but(after the photos were transferred) we were satisfied with the product. My rating for this product is a reflection more of the difficulty in setting it up, rather than the quality of the ornament itself. Its not a High-Def device, but is fine for what it is.
awful

I've spent the last two hours trying to get this thing two work on each of my THREE computers (with two different operating systems). After downloading the software from the online website and attempting the software included, I've given up. This thing is going in the trash. Save yourself a headache and don't buy this!
DO NOT BUY THIS ORNAMENT - the software does not run on Vista or XP

I have tried this software on Vista and XP, on an HP desktop and a Dell laptop. I have loaded it from the disk and downloaded it from Mark Feldstein's site. When you start the software, it flashes and closes. It does not work and I have found no other interface to use. If you do not mind only seeing the pictures that came with the ornament you are in good shape. If you want to load your own, forget it.
piece of junk

Reviewer: Patrick C. Clark,
bought this to give to my parents with various pictures of their grandkids for them to enjoy and, just like the other people said, the software won't load. So glad I got it on clearance last year because it's worthless and I'd really be upset if I'd spent the suggested retail price for it. Nice concept but not useful.
Software does not work on Mac or Vista

Reviewer: Dana,
I bought 4 of these ornaments and have spent two days trying to install the software to upload photos on 3 different computers. The software just doesn't work! Thankfully I am able to return all four. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!!!
